Richard specialises in aviation, travel law and commercial litigation. He leads the HFW aviation team in Dubai. A past in-house legal adviser at the UK CAA, Richard’s practice includes both aviation liability, regulatory and commercial issues.

Richard’s experience includes acting as lead partner in a number of high profile aviation claims and projects in the Middle East and wider region. He acted for IATA in the English High Court “Slots case”, which declared Slot trading lawful.

Who’s Who Legal Transport 2016 described Richard as a “world class” regulatory practitioner. Richard was also ranked as one of the global top 10 contentious aviation lawyers by The International Who’s Who of Aviation Lawyers 2015 and 2016 and was voted Aviation Lawyer of the Year (UAE) in 2016 and 2017 by Lawyer Monthly.

Richard is qualified in England and Wales.
