Jane specialises in construction and engineering and dispute resolution, with over nine years' worth of GCC experience. Jane's practice has largely focused on construction and engineering disputes on a variety of different projects, such as sports stadiums, residential, hotel, medical facilities and mixed-use developments.

Jane has experience of arbitration under local and international arbitration rules, in addition to extensive experience of instructing local lawyers to act in court proceedings on a range of matters ancillary to construction arbitration disputes. Jane also provides non-contentious construction advice, in the negotiation and drafting of a range of construction contracts, and advice during the lifecycle of a project.

Jane has also advised and acted on behalf of banking, finance and telecoms clients in local court and arbitration proceedings in the region.

Jane is named as a recommended construction lawyer in Legal 500.

Jane is a qualified lawyer in England and Wales.

Recent work includes:

  • Advising a joint venture main contractor on claims arising out of a large-scale complex medical facility in Abu Dhabi.
  • Defending a major Abu Dhabi based developer on a complex, high value ICC arbitration arising out of a mixed-use project with the sums in dispute in the region of AED 1 billion.
  • Acting for a major contractor on an award-winning (and successful) AED 1.5 billion ad hoc arbitration pursuant to UNCITRAL Rules in Dubai, UAE against the employer.
  • Representation of a regional telecoms operator against its regulator in a successful, landmark statutory arbitration securing a final award in favour of the operator which included an award of costs.

The firm's Dubai office opened in 2006 and has grown significantly over the years.

Now with 13 partners, 1 legal director and 26 associates, the office offers both GCC clients and international clients with operations in the region an integrated service covering dispute resolution, transactions and regulation across a number of industry sectors. Our team of lawyers, many of whom are Arabic speakers, come from diverse backgrounds and have a strong understanding of and established working relationships with government departments, regulatory bodies, agencies and locally qualified lawyers throughout the GCC region. Our experience shows that this facilitates the faster resolution of any difficulties our clients face.
