Alastair specialises in transactions and disputes arising in the construction and engineering, infrastructure, energy, utilities and insurance sectors. He advises clients from project inception through to contract administration and dispute resolution. Alastair has worked on both domestic and international projects around the world, with seven years of his career spent in the United Kingdom.

Known for his commercial and pragmatic approach to contract negotiation, dispute avoidance and dispute resolution, Alastair has been voted consistently by peers as one of Australia’s top construction and infrastructure lawyers in Best Lawyers since 2014 and in Doyle's Guide since 2017. He is qualified in Australia, and England and Wales.

Recent work includes:

  • Advising a major energy infrastructure asset owner on issues arising out of an ECIA for the construction of a gas pipeline in northern Australia.
  • Advising a State-owned utility provider on a $40 million package of work for the design and construction of water treatment plants, pipelines and reticulation upgrades across Tasmania.
  • Acting for a contractor in multi-million dollar litigation concerning delay claims and variations in relation to the design and construction of an industrial process plant in northern Australia.
